France’s competitive regulator has fined search engine Google 220 million euros (Rs 41 billion) for violating its advertising policy.

According to NDTV, the fine imposed on Google is the result of a settlement with three media groups, News Corporation, the French newspaper La Figaro and the Belgian group Russell. All three groups have accused Google of monopolizing online advertising.

Google has been accused of discriminating against Adax, a subsidiary of its “double-click” ad network, which serves as a platform for advertising or broadcasting firms.
